Opening or changing a local business? What to send us

Useful business coverage starts with details a resident can act on: what the business does, where to find it and what has actually changed.

Prepare the factual essentials

The trading name as customers will see it.
The public address or service area, including Ripley or South Ripley where relevant.
An official website or business-controlled page supporting the update.
A concise description of the products or services.
The effective date of an opening, relocation or other change.
A public contact method and any customer-facing booking link.

If you work from home and do not receive customers there, explain your service area instead of sending a private home address for publication. Keep personal documents and sensitive financial information out of the submission.

Separate an opening plan from an open business

Say clearly whether the date is confirmed or provisional. Tell us which details still depend on final arrangements. Do not describe a service as available now if customers cannot yet access it. Send an update if the date changes after your initial submission.

Give a reader a reason to care

Explain the practical change: a new service, a different location, new booking arrangements or a community activity. Supply evidence for factual claims. Avoid unsupported “best”, “number one” or guaranteed-result claims. For photographs, confirm that you have permission for their publication and identify the photographer.

Use the right route

Check the directory, then submit a factual business update. Standard factual listings are free and checked before publication. A submission does not guarantee a feature or publication date.
